Decatur principals meet to discuss safety
By Deangelo McDaniel
The Decatur Daily

Decatur City Schools principals are meeting today to discuss “possible” changes in safety procedures, Superintendent Ed Nichols said.

Area school systems have been in a heightened state of security since the Dec. 14 deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

Twenty-six people, including 20 elementary students, were killed at Sandy Hook.

Decatur City beefed up security around its 18 school sites before students were dismissed for the holidays. Teachers returned today and students will come back tomorrow.
